¡Hola, mi Gente!

I didn’t think I’d be quoting Oprah, but there you are. Simple and to the point.

I was thinking of the passion I’ve conjured at recent events when there were large groups of people into the music all dancing to my rhythms. At those times, when I’m a soloist, I dig deeper into myself to create that big, danceable sound. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to play the rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, vocals and play string or horn parts all at the same time. But that I do. And when those smiles, dance moves and screams of delight are aimed my way, then I feel the passion returned and find new energy.

But at those times, I also really miss my band! I’m working on getting something going with them again, maybe next month… I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, here comes your brand new August Calendar. In spite of all the private events I’m doing which do not appear here, I still have a healthy number of public opportunities to catch me, including my new set of shows on some Wednesdays at the Park James Hotel in Menlo Park. Carlos Reyes bridges traditional musical genres and mesmerizes audiences with unique fusions of Blues, Rock, Jazz, Latin, and Classical styles. Carlos Reyes features Tony Lindsay, beloved by audiences around the world. Carlos Reyes has performed for popes and presidents with his mix of popular music. He was a child protege. At age ten, he debuted on harp with the Oakland Symphony and debuted on violin with the Oakland Youth Symphony at age fourteen.s

In addition to his profound mastery of harp and violin, Carlos also plays guitar, bass, mandolin, and keyboards. He is a well-respected producer, composer, and engineer and has been at the forefront of introducing the Electric Harp. He has consistently broken technical and musical boundaries and pioneered techniques that have expanded musical possibilities for musicians and audiences. Standing ovations are the norm, not the exception — when Carlos and his aptly named band “The Electrick Symphony” performs.

¡Hola, mi Gente!

Thanks to those of you who came out last Saturday to our show, “An Intimate Evening 2019” at the Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate in Oakland.  Estaire Godinez lead our great band, Bob Crawford, David Belove, Celso Alberti, Beatrice Godinez and Yours Truly in 2 blazing sets of Latin and Brazilian jazz. We all wished we could do more of this…

For those of you who missed it, I have a public show coming up this Saturday Aug 10 at Havana in Walnut Creek from 9-11:30pm.  I’ll be leading Estaire Godinez on Latin percussion and vocals and myself on guitar and vocals through a huge variety of music. Plus, I just learned today that we may have a very special guest sitting in: none other than the great Carlos Reyes on violin. Anyone who has seen him knows he always gives the night a huge lift! Details below. Don’t miss it!

Remember, too, that we have a cool version of my Trio which hasn’t played together publicly in many years making it’s debut at Havana in Walnut Creek on August 17.  David Belove on bass and the great David Flores on drums. I’m really looking forward to playing with these two again! Details below.
