¡Hola, Mi Gente!
Given the spectrum of crazy things happening in the world, I should count my blessings. I’m still dealing with shoulder issues with Kaiser and am finally getting over that nasty bug. That was a challenge given my 6 gigs in 5 day schedule last week! I did some test hikes in Oakland and am definitely feeling better.
My debut last week at the Casa Bella Event Center in Sunol was such a hit that they’ve invited me back to play each Thursday this October. The staff and public were great to play for, and the tacos were really good! They’ve only been doing this for a few weeks now, so come and enjoy the rustic elegance of this fine property. I’m also looking forward to this Saturday October 6, about 8:30-11pm when I return to Havana in Walnut Creek, this time with the delightful Sonya Jason, the saxophonist who has played with Sheila E. and the Brothers Johnson. We’ll be doing a unique Latin-jazz fusion with some classic Grover Washington and Gato Barbieri thrown in. This is only the 2nd time we’re doing this here, so don’t miss it! Details below.
The duet series continues on Friday October 12 with the great Latin percussionist-vocalist Estaire Godinez, and then Saturday October 27 with the Grammy-winning Latin percussionist-vocalist from Venezuela, Omar Ledezma. It all happens at Havana in Walnut Creek. It’s turned into quite a scene! Details below.
I also have a smattering of Maria, Maria gigs this month at both locations, starting this Friday night October 5 from 6-9pm in Danville. That’s always a fun hang. See below for the other dates and locations.
